The Spirit of the Place

Where Tea Country Becomes Home

There is a moment in the hills when the mist lifts slowly from the tea.
The light softens. The air cools. And the house begins to wake.

The Tea Bungalow stands within working tea country in Galaha — not as a hotel, but as a residence shaped by rhythm, garden, and gathering. Six chambers. A long verandah. Shared tables. Quiet corners. A place designed to be lived in.

Working Tea Estate

Not a hotel.
A house in the hills.

First Steps

Arrival

You arrive beneath the car porch and step into The Morning Room. Light filters through tall windows. Tea is poured. The day begins gently.

Through twin arches, the house deepens into The Evening Salon — intimate, warm, and made for conversation that stretches long after dusk.

At its centre lies The Long Table, seating twelve. Here, breakfasts unfold slowly and dinners are shared by candlelight, doors opening onto the garden air.

Each Room, Its Own Character

The Chambers

Each room holds its own character within the house.

01
The Founder's Suite

The principal chamber. A private verandah opens toward the hills, with direct steps to The Private Pool — originally conceived as a secluded plunge pool. Morning tea may be served here in complete privacy.

02
The Highlands Suite

Spacious and fully accessible, with the ability to connect internally to The Pekoe Room, forming a private family wing when desired.

03
Verandah Chamber

Along the verandah, rooted in the quiet language of tea country. Direct garden access and the gentle rhythm of hill mornings.

04
The Pekoe Room

Named for the finest tea leaf grades. Connects to the Highlands Suite for families seeking a private wing within the house.

05
Camellia Room

Named for the tea plant itself. A serene chamber along the verandah with views into the estate garden.

06
Galaha Room

Named for the village that frames the estate. Grounded, calm, and wholly present in the landscape beyond the verandah.

Beyond the Threshold

The Verandah & Beyond

The rear of the bungalow opens onto The Verandah, a shaded corridor of quiet observation. From here, the hills roll outward in soft green layers.

Beyond it, the covered Tea Pavilion comes alive with the scent of live cooking — estate breakfasts in the morning, lantern-lit feasts at night.

Rainy afternoons drift naturally toward The Billiards Room, once the estate kitchen, now a place for play and unhurried hours.

Within the Grounds

The Carriage House

Set slightly apart within the grounds, the former estate outbuilding now lives as The Carriage House Cottage — a fully stepless two-bedroom residence with its own living and dining space.

A retreat within the retreat. Ideal for families, longer stays, or guests seeking additional independence. Within it: Saddle & Lantern.

Sanctuaries

The Private Pool

Framed by garden planting and natural stone, The Private Pool sits just beyond the Founder's verandah. Intimate in scale. Calm by design.

A larger pool is planned for the estate's future. For now, this remains a quiet garden sanctuary, accessible throughout the day in complete privacy.

When the Estate Is Yours

The Tea Bungalow may be reserved in full. No passing guests. No imposed schedules. Only your party and the rhythm of the hills. Children move freely between garden and verandah. Lunch extends into afternoon. Evening mist settles while lanterns are lit. The house becomes home.

The Landscape

Life in Galaha

In tea country, time does not stop —
it simply moves differently.

Walk the estate paths. Follow sections of the Pekoe Trail through working tea fields and misty highland ridges.

Visit nearby tea factories. Understand the harvest that surrounds the bungalow and shapes every morning cup.

Return before dusk to warmth, light, and a long shared table. The house earns its keep in the evening hours.

Watch the mist lift from the valley each morning. Every day begins the same, and yet it never does.
